Brake Failure Sends Car Flying Onto Glencairn Beach in Spectacular Crash

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a black Corsa Sport became airborne and crash-landed on Glencairn Beach following a reported brake failure. The incident occurred shortly after 2:00 AM when the driver lost control, sending the vehicle through a red traffic light, over railway tracks, and onto the sandy shore.

Miraculously, the driver survived the crash, sustaining a broken leg. Authorities have confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Emergency services responded promptly, and the vehicle was later towed from the beach. Shane Meyer from Shane’s Towing Western Cape managed the recovery operation, utilizing a scaffold plank provided by City of Cape Town Council Speaker Felicity Purchase to protect the beach walkway during the vehicle’s removal .

The incident has sparked discussions about vehicle maintenance and road safety, especially concerning brake systems.
